web2file — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

web2file is a Chrome extension that runs entirely on your device. It has no backend server, and it does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or the content of any web page you capture.

What the extension does

web2file lets you convert the web page you are currently viewing into a file — SVG, PNG, JPEG, or PDF — by capturing the full page, a single element, or a region you select. All conversion happens locally, inside your browser, using JavaScript libraries bundled with the extension (dom-to-svg, html2canvas, jsPDF). The resulting file is saved directly to your computer's Downloads folder via Chrome's own downloads API.

What data we access, and what we do with it

We do not collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, authentication credentials, personal communications, location data, browsing history, or user activity data (clicks, keystrokes, etc.) of any kind.

No analytics, no tracking, no ads

web2file contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting, no advertising code, and makes no network requests as part of its capture/convert/download flow. This can be verified directly in the source code, which is open source.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or transfer any user data to third parties, because we do not collect any user data to begin with.
